We already have documents naming Julia Romo as the grandmother of Alejandro, the mother of Juan, and the wife of Manuel, but I found something so cool, I couldn't not share.

Below is a letter written by Manuel Ignacio Martín del Campo to petition the Catholic church to allow him to marry Julia Romo 8 months after his previous wife had passed away.

In it, we learn that he needed to ask permission because we was already related to Julia Romo. She was a relative of his to the "second with third" degree (uncle/neice or aunt/nephew). It names her father, grandfather, and mother.

This is a very confusing "love" triage and answers aren't totally forthcoming, but it appears that Manuel married his deceased first wife's sister's daughter who he was already related to through earlier ancestors.

Most documents name her only as Julia Romo, and this names her parents (including mother's full name), so this also helps us confirm that "Julia Romo", "Julia Romo de Vivar" and "María Julia Romo de Vivar y Martín del Campo" are the same person.

El Ciudadano Manuel Ignacio Martín del Campo, natural y vecino del Puerto de Jalpa y de esta feligresía, y actualmente se halla con destino veinte en la Villa de la Encarnación, viudo de la Ciudadana Juana del Refugio Martín del Campo, ocho meses ha sepultada en esta Parroquia, con el rendimiento debido comparezco ante V. y digo: que deseoso de mejor servir a Dios, tengo tratado pasar a segundas nupcias con la Ciudadana Sra. Julia Romo de Vivar, natural y vecina del Puerto de San José de Plancarte, de esta feligresía; mas para que se verifique sea necesario impetrar la notoria piedad del Sr. Provisor del Obispado de Guadalajara, dispensar el impedimento de dos parentescos: de segundo con tercero grado de consanguinidad el uno, y el otro de primero con segundo grado de afinidad por cópula ilícita, con que nos hallamos ligados.

La causa que tenemos y pueden mover la voluntad de V. para concedernos la dispensa del impedimento de estos parentescos, son: la avanzada edad y estado de mi Pret.ª, imposibilidad de estar sola, y diligencias en subsistir; hallándome baldado de la mano derecha, en total desamparo, fuera del auxilio que tenía por su abuela, ya anciana no puede dar; por su avanzada edad y enfermedades, y por las cuales se considera muy próxima su muerte; mediante el matrimonio que intento y facultades que tengo fácilmente el amparo de mi Pret.ª y de este modo lograr el beneficio espiritual y temporal que nos resulta; y procurando el cumplimiento de la penitencia que en reconocimiento de la gracia se nos imponga.

I, the citizen Manuel Ignacio Martín del Campo, a native and resident of the Port of Jalpa and of this parish, and presently assigned to duty in the Villa de la Encarnación, widower of the citizen Juana del Refugio Martín del Campo, who was buried in this Parish eight months ago, with due respect appear before Your Worship and state: that, desiring better to serve God, I have arranged to enter into a second marriage with the citizen lady Julia Romo de Vivar, a native and resident of the Port of San José de Plancarte, of this parish; but for this to take place it is necessary to implore the noted piety of the Provisor of the Bishopric of Guadalajara to dispense the impediment of two kinships: one of second with third degree of consanguinity, and the other of first with second degree of affinity by illicit intercourse, by which we are bound.

The reasons we have, and which may move the will of Your Worship to grant us the dispensation from the impediment of these kinships, are: the advanced age and condition of my intended spouse, her inability to remain alone, and the difficulty of sustaining herself; finding myself disabled in my right hand, in total abandonment, apart from the assistance I had from her grandmother, who, being already elderly, can no longer provide it because of her advanced age and illnesses, by reason of which her death is considered very near; by means of the marriage I intend and the means I possess, I can readily provide protection to my intended spouse, and in this way obtain the spiritual and temporal benefit that results to us; and I undertake to fulfill the penance that may be imposed upon us in acknowledgment of the grace.

Therefore, with due respect, I beg Your Worship to be pleased to order the proceedings conducive to my request and to give account thereof, receiving in everything the greatest mercy and favor; I swear, etc.
