Tale of Two José María Romos

This one was very confusing. First, there are TWO José María Romos born around the same time. However, they are from different lines of the Romo family.

Very confusing, but essentially, it went:

OG Pedro (b 1630) -> Juan Romo (b 1674) -> wrong Pedro (b 1710) -> SECOND wrong Pedro (b 1750) -> José María Romo (b 1769 and not our guy)

OG Pedro (b 1630) -> Baltasar Romo (b 1673) -> Pedro Romo (b 1720) -> José Joaquín Romo (b 1752) -> José María Romo (b 1780 OUR guy).

The duplicate names keep tripping people up (people in forums and lineage sites) because another branch also produced Pedros and Josés in the 1700s, so their documents often get collapsed, and naturally the two José María Romos' documents also get collapsed.

I have worked out which is which though:

Our guy married María Josefa Martín del Campo (Julia Romo’s mom). The other guy married Maria Antonia Muños.

Our guy also sometimes uses his mother's last name (Camarena).

Context

If you've viewed Julia Romo's page, you will have already seen a primary source tying José María Romo to both Julia and his father, José Joaquin.

Below, you will see a marriage entry for José María Romo. It mentions that his first wife, María Josefa Martín (Julia's mom), had died. He is marrying another woman named Mariana Gómez.

It named his parents:

Father: José Joaquín Romo
Mother: Josefa Camarena

Confirming that we have the correct José María and re-affirming that his father is Joaquin.
