José Joaquín Romo

Date of Birth: c. 1752
Location: Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico
Father: Pedro Romo de Vivar
Mother:

This confirms that María Josefa Romo de Vivar was the daughter of Joaquín Romo de Vivar, and that Pedro Romo de Vivar was Joaquín’s father. Although there were three men named Pedro Romo de Vivar, we know for sure we have the correct one, because the document states that María Dolores Lomelín and Pedro Romo de Vivar were first cousins through Nicolás de Lomelín. This is consistent with Nicolás de Lomelín being Dolores’s paternal grandfather and Pedro’s maternal grandfather, which uniquely identifies Pedro Romo de Vivar born circa 1720 as the right dude.

Context

The document below (right side) is a marriage dispensation (episcopal dispensation for consanguinity). It essentially outlines how related everyone is, so they can get permission from the Catholic church to marry when they are too closely related. On José María's page, we saw his second marriage registration, which had some of this info. This is still his document, but it comes from the first marriage and has a lot more info.
